NASBA National Registry of CPE Sponsors | Frequently Asked Questions
What is the NASBA National Registry of CPE Sponsors?
The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) National Registry of CPE Sponsors is a collection of learning providers that offer high-quality CPE programs in accordance with nationally recognized standards. To ensure high-quality CPE, sponsors must go through a rigorous process to be accepted on the NASBA Registry.
Why did the GAPPT seek to become a registered sponsor on the National Registry? Since its establishment in 2009, the GAPPT has promoted high-quality, comprehensive, and unbiased education for public retirement system trustees and plan staff members. It is because of this core belief that the GAPPT decided to undergo multiple rigorous accreditation processes. We specifically chose to become a registered sponsor because all 55 State Boards of Accountancy accept CPE credit issued by Registry sponsors to satisfy a CPA’s CPE requirement. The GAPPT is proud to be a National Registry sponsor and continuing the association's legacy of “Leading Education through Accreditation™”.
Will all jurisdictions automatically accept CPEs awarded by the GAPPT? All jurisdictions accept courses from Registry sponsors to a certain extent. However, some jurisdictions have additional requirements. To viewa jurisdiction's summary of requirements, please click here.
What GAPPT programs will offer CPE credits? The GAPPT has been approved to offer CPEs for programs with a Group Live delivery method. This includes the Certified Retirement Plan Fiduciary™ (CRPF™) program, as well as continuing education sessions offered during the Annual Conference and the Trustee School.
Will the GAPPT still continue to award GAPPT Continuing Education Credits (CECs) and IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs)? Yes. GAPPT CECs will be awarded and listed on a member’s transcript. If IACET CEUs and NASBA CPEs are also awarded, they will be included on the transcript, as well.
I attended a GAPPT event before May 9, 2025, and earned GAPPT CECs. Have I now earned NASBA CPEs for those sessions? No. NASBA CPEs cannot be awarded retroactively.
I will present a session at a GAPPT event in which attendees will be awarded NASBA CPEs. If I present this material for another conference group, can I or the organization use the National Registry of CPE Sponsors logo and award CPEs? No. Only registered sponsors are authorized to use the National Registry of CPE Sponsors logo. Because organizations must demonstrate compliance with the Statement of Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs and the program requirements of the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, only approved sponsors can award CPEs.
The Georgia Association of Public Plan Trustees is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.NASBARegistry.org.
